Prince Harry shows Stephen Colbert the necklace William broke
Kate Middleton has claimed that talking therapy doesn’t work for everyone, just two days after Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, was released.
The Princess of Wales commented that conventional types of therapy may not be beneficial to all in her first public appearance since the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all memoir arrived in bookshops.
In it, Harry references his own therapy sessions, uses psychotherapy language including “trauma” and details his experiences with PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury). Harry even thanks therapists who helped him in the book’s acknowledgements.
King Charles III also made his first public appearance since the book launch where he asked if he was “hurt” by the comments in Spare.
The King did not respond to any questions about his son’s memoir.
Harry’s fraught relationship with Prince William and Kate is exposed in Spare, which has become the fastest selling non fiction book in history, while a poll has found Harry’s popularity has dropped since its publication.
Harry, no… Why Spare is a step too far even for this royals fan
“Wait. Say that again. They call each other Willy and Harold? Harry’s necklace was ripped?! He was injured by a dog bowl!?!?!
“The explosive account of a fight between Prince Harry and Prince William, from Harry’s forthcoming memoir Spare, contains the kind of intimate, incidental details that usually make me giddily incredulous,” Jessie Thompson writes.
“I’m the type of casual royal watcher who has vague political opinions about inherited privilege but will neck a new Tina Brown book like it’s a tasty mojito.
“I watch new seasons of The Crown in a single sitting. I have even googled ‘Princess Margaret wearing sunglasses young’.

Prince Harry has ‘turned against military family’ by revealing Afghanistan kills, ex-colonel says
Colonel Tim Collins, known for a pre-battle speech he made in Iraq, said Harry’s conduct is “not how we behave in the army”.
It comes as the duke faces an intense backlash after writing about his time in Afghanistan in his controversial memoir, Spare.
Harry wrote that flying six missions during his second tour of duty on the front line in 2012 to 2013 resulted in “the taking of human lives”, of which he was neither proud nor ashamed.

TK Maxx denies Prince Harry’s claim about shopping retailer’s annual sales
TK Maxx denied Prince Harry’s claim about shopping at the retailer during its yearly sales, which he mentioned in his new memoir, Spare.
In his book, which was released on 10 January, the Duke of Sussex reflected on buying from TK Maxx during their “once-a-year sale”. However, TK Maxx has now responded to the royal’s claim, noting that its stores don’t “do sales”.
“Whilst we’re delighted Prince Harry is a big fan, we thought we should explain we don’t actually do sales,” a spokesperson for the brand told Express. “Instead, we offer great value, style, and savings all year round.”
The response from TK Maxx – which is known as TJ Maxx in the US – comes after Harry made claims about how much he loves buying his daily attire from the department store.

Prince Harry and Meghan less popular than Andrew among over 65s, new poll shows
Prince Harry and Meghan are now less popular than disgraced royal Prince Andrew among over-65s after making bombshell revelations in Spare, a new poll has found.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen polling numbers plummet after Harry used his new memoir and TV interviews to discuss the ongoing row with the Royal Family.
A fresh survey by YouGov found that 73 per cent of over-65s in Britain have a “very” negative view of Harry. Some 69 per cent had the same view of the Duchess.
This compares with 60 per cent for Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his military titles and patronages in January over allegations of sexual assault, which he denies.

Kate Middleton claims that ‘talking therapy’ doesn’t work for everyone after Prince Harry releases Spare
Kate Middleton has claimed that talking therapy doesn’t work for everyone, just two days after Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, was released.
The Princess of Wales commented that conventional types of therapy may not be beneficial to all in her first royal engagement since the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all memoir arrived in bookshops.

Visiting various locations in Merseyside, William and Kate met several young adults at the Birkenhead-based Open Door charity on Thursday (12 January), which provides access to arts-based therapeutic support.

Prince Harry says he sees his mother Diana in Archie and Lilibet: ‘The Spencer gene is very, very strong’
Prince Harry has opened up about the “ginger gene” he passed down from his mother’s side to his son and daughter, and why he didn’t think his and Meghan Markle’s children would inherit his hair colour.
The Duke of Sussex discussed the couple’s son Archie, three, and daughter Lilibet, one, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday 10 January.
During the conversation, which saw the royal and late-night host discuss Harry’s memoir Spare as they took shots of tequila, Colbert asked the duke whether he sees any of his late family members in his and Meghan’s children.
“Having children helps us remember those that we’ve lost. Do you see your mother or your grandparents in any of your children?” Colbert asked the duke as he held up a family portrait of Harry, Meghan and their two children.

Voices | The important health sign more people need to recognise like Harry did
In this piece for Independent Voices, Brooke Metz writes:
In his new memoir Spare, Prince Harry explores his own experience with panic attacks. He describes still having to attend events and even speak at them, much to his dismay. Back then, anxiety was rarely discussed – and certainly not among members of the royal family.
Even just a few years ago, people didn’t discuss mental health issues as much as they do now. While anxiety has become almost a buzzword over the last couple years, with nervousness of all levels being referred to as the disorder, it wasn’t always this way.
I used to talk about my panic attacks in whispers and with a rose-colored face, like calling my mental illness by name, out loud, would cause people to see me in a different light. But I was the same person I’d always been. I just had a name for my ever-so-often inability to breathe – and it didn’t mean a trip to the emergency room.
I’m glad society is at a point now where words like “anxiety disorder” and “panic attack” can be used without needing to blush or make excuses. They’re nothing to be ashamed of. And whether you’re a royal prince or just an everyday American like me, you deserve care and support.

Prince Harry likens Diana’s perfume to a tab of LSD
Prince Harry has revealed how the smell of Princess Diana’s perfume helped him cope with her death, likening it to “a tab of LSD”.
In Spare, he notes how his therapist urged him to reflect on what he remembered about his mother, including “bedtimes in Kensington Palace,” when he’d go from “inhaling her perfume” to then “lying in bed”.
“We’re breaking through,” Harry’s therapist told him. “Let’s not stop there.”
The royal then revealed that during one of his therapy sessions, he brought “a bottle of Mummy’s favourite perfume to the office,” before explaining how he felt when smelling it.
“First, by Van Cleef & Arpels. At the start of our session, I lifted the lid, took a deep sniff. Like a tab of LSD,” he wrote.

JR Moehringer, the ghostwriter who helped Prince Harry tell his story
The two boys grew up 20 years and almost 3,500 miles apart, both navigating parental dysfunction, both floundering to find their places in vastly different worlds. One was a prince; one was far closer to the pauper end of the spectrum. They would both be fathers themselves by the time their professional paths crossed.
When it happened, however improbably, the teaming of ghostwriter JR Moehringer with the Duke of Sussex would lead to one of the most explosive memoirs in living memory. Prince Harry bares his soul, controversially, in the tell-all Spare, but it was Moehringer who put the royal’s story down on paper.
Sheila Flynn tells his story:
JR Moehringer, the ghostwriter who helped Prince Harry tell his story
Prince Harry’s ghostwriter, JR Moehringer, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning feature writer whose own memoir about his absent father was adapted into a George Clooney-directed film. Now he’s turned his hand to ferreting out the most intimate details of royal life and familial intrigue, writes Sheila Flynn
